This is the first release from Alex M.O.R.P.H on Sea to Sun/Loverush Digital. It features the vocal talents of Ana Criado

In fact, for me it’s Ana’s vocal that makes this track. It takes me back to the late nineties when John Digweed and Sasha ruled the world and released their beautiful trance enthused tracks with floaty female vocals.

But this isn’t a trip down memory lane. If you’re a fan of Alex’s work then you won’t be disappointed and indeed this track is exactly what you’d expect. And there’s a cool selection of mixed to chose from. Paul van Dyk’s stands out for me as it is pumpier than the original whilst maintain the trance soundtrack and vocals. Plenty of floatiness and entrancing synths.

If you like your music more housier then check out the Loverush UK! version which adds house undertones to the track; if you’re thing is more beeps and tweets then check out the Sted-E and Hybrid Heights versions. Other remixes also from Timothy Allan and Iilya Malyuev.

It’s the PvD track for me though!

You should recognise the name of Freedom Williams as the co-founder of C&C Music Factory in the 90s. In fact when you hear his rapping on this track you’ll immediately recognise his vocal style.

In fact it is difficult not to draw comparisons with C&C Music Factory as the track has their feel about it. Whilst the original is funky with a 60s style guitar riff, but don’t let that get you down, it comes with a host of remixes: Sted-E and Hybrid Heights turn the tune into a hand raising floor filler with its pulsating horns, whilst Soulshaker take the tune in a completely different direction with a cool house mix with a trance feel to it. Dave Pezza’s version has an excellent raw feel to it, moving away from the funky house beat of the original to a more electro feel – this is probably the best mix.

Released 5th October 2009 on Sea To Sun/Loverush Digital

Two of New York’s freshest house producers collaborate on this EP. The opener (and title track) is the collaboration whilst the other two tracks are their own pieces of work.

“En El Momento” is a punchy and upbeat number with a catchy plucky chord riff throughout mixed with beats and a real hypnotic progressive feel. In fact these guys should work together more as this track outshines their solo efforts on this EP.

Sted-E’s “Greecia” has elements of the opening track but less of a pulse and melody, whilst “Captured Moments” is a very nice progressive track with plenty of melody and beat (sorry Sted-E).

Released: 7th September 2009 on Sea To Sun Records

This is a rerelease from 2008. Back then it went down a storm in the clubs and with DJs, and what with the success of Loverush UK!’s other hit (with Sylvia Tosun) “5 Reasons”, it’s no wonder they’re rerubbed this track.

In terms of mixes, there’s plenty to choose from (no less than 9 on the promo) and although there are some real masters within the remix package I particularly like the 2Bit version which messes up the tune with beeps and breaks whilst my favourite, reminding why I like progressive house and trance, is the Hybrid Heights version, where the beats are stripped back and the beats are dark enhancing Molly Bancroft’s vocals. In fact the vocals work well with the melodies and the progressive house beat. Her voice adds something special to the track, a kind of haunting that makes you want to shut your eyes and take in every word, something which is quite rare in a dance track (with the exception of perhaps some early Sasha stuff, “When the Rush Comes” from Motorcycle and most recently “I Remember” from Deadmau5).

So overall a nice package, and whilst I can’t rave about the original version I say you need this in your life if not just for the Hybrid Heights version.
