Another track from back in May…

Loverush UK! recent masters of the progressive house/trance sound with hits including “5 Reasons” and “Give Me Love” re-release this track from 2007 with plenty of mixes.

The revamped 2010 mix is a progressive and vocal (courtesy of Shelley Harland) as it comes – a nice chilled track that will take you back to Paul van Dyk’s hayday tracks. The original mixes from Kinky Roland Mix, Liquid Nation and Mandy Reid don’t sound as though they’re 3 years old – the Kinky Roland version is probably the best with it’s 80s piano and drumkit riff and it’s tweaks and beeps.

The new remixes (of which there are 4 others) have a rawer sound than the original versions and certainly the Darren Bailie Vs Lime & Bastian Mix takes the 2010 remix and adds harder beats which makes it my favourite of the new mixes.

As I say this was released back in May on Sea to Sun / Loverush Digital

No, not a reworking of the Kylie classic but Kinky Roland’s (of Loverush UK!) own track featuring the vocals of Alec Sun Drae.

The track, released on Sea to Sun / Loverush Digital is a progressive number available in various mixes. I can’t say it does much for me as it just seems to pump along without too much excitement. The Timothy Allan Remix ups the tempo a little and Damien S provides a trancier version but it’s the Scott Langley Remix that’s the stand out for me. It’s plucky beats and slightly twisted reworking bring the track alive and  gives it some substance.

Released back in May.

This is the first release from Alex M.O.R.P.H on Sea to Sun/Loverush Digital. It features the vocal talents of Ana Criado

In fact, for me it’s Ana’s vocal that makes this track. It takes me back to the late nineties when John Digweed and Sasha ruled the world and released their beautiful trance enthused tracks with floaty female vocals.

But this isn’t a trip down memory lane. If you’re a fan of Alex’s work then you won’t be disappointed and indeed this track is exactly what you’d expect. And there’s a cool selection of mixed to chose from. Paul van Dyk’s stands out for me as it is pumpier than the original whilst maintain the trance soundtrack and vocals. Plenty of floatiness and entrancing synths.

If you like your music more housier then check out the Loverush UK! version which adds house undertones to the track; if you’re thing is more beeps and tweets then check out the Sted-E and Hybrid Heights versions. Other remixes also from Timothy Allan and Iilya Malyuev.

It’s the PvD track for me though!

“One Night Stand” – Christian Scott Remix
“Somebody” – Original Mix
“Somebody” – Skywings Remix
“Somebody” – Original Radio Edit

Released 18th January 2010 on Sea to the Sun / Love Rush Digital

Sea to the Sun / Loverush Digital seem to be rolling out dance anthem after dance anthem over the last few months, and January seems no exception.

This EP from Canadian, Timothy Allan features two tracks: “One Night Stand” and “Somebody”.

“One Night Stand” is a thumping house track in its original form. The Bobby Savage & Greg Pidc**k Remix loses the tumping chords and replaces them with repetitive entrancing minimal beats which breaks down the track a little and loses the power in the original. The Christian Scott mix does the same, but with a brazilian style beat to it.

“Somebody” also has a good house beat and is more progressive that “One Night Stand”. This time round though the mixes are a bit more worthwhile, with the Skywings Remix with its pulsating chords and dark hard beats – it’s probably the best track on the EP.

Overall, Timothy Allan has produced a couple of decent tracks here, but it’s the Skywings Remix that wins it for me.

You should recognise the name of Freedom Williams as the co-founder of C&C Music Factory in the 90s. In fact when you hear his rapping on this track you’ll immediately recognise his vocal style.

In fact it is difficult not to draw comparisons with C&C Music Factory as the track has their feel about it. Whilst the original is funky with a 60s style guitar riff, but don’t let that get you down, it comes with a host of remixes: Sted-E and Hybrid Heights turn the tune into a hand raising floor filler with its pulsating horns, whilst Soulshaker take the tune in a completely different direction with a cool house mix with a trance feel to it. Dave Pezza’s version has an excellent raw feel to it, moving away from the funky house beat of the original to a more electro feel – this is probably the best mix.
